Cases and Incidences of Malaria
in Malaysia from 1990 to 2000
The bar graph shows the incidence rate and the number
of Malaria cases as reported by Ministry Of Health from 1990-2000. The overall
trend indicates that the number of reported cases and incidence rate of Malaria
in Malaysia fluctuated from 1990 to 2000. The fluctuating pattern of the
incidence rate followed that of the number of cases closely throughout the
years.
The highest incidence rate was in 1990 at slightly
above 30.0 while the highest number of cases were reported in
1994 and 1995 at 60,000. The fluctuation in the number of cases was not
consistent. From 1990 to 1992, the drop in the number of reported cases was
only gradual which were from 55,000 to slightly below 40,000 but from 1996 to
1998 there was a sharp decline from slightly above 50,000 to only about 15,000
cases. The most minimal number of cases and incidence rate of Malaria were
found in 1999 at around 10,000 cases and 5.0 respectively.
The overall downward trend in the number of cases and
incidence rate of Malaria is a positive outcome in the effort to curb its
spread. This should be continued further until the disease is finally
eradicated.
